Dear purple butterflies,
When I was first diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2010, I had so many emotions running through me, and as you can imagine, I was incredibly stressed out. There was a sense of being a burden on, not only my family, but my friends because I was afraid to drive while taking medicine. At the time my medicine was so powerful I would have horrible fogs and dizzy spells. Another problem I was having (and I know several of you can relate) was that my doctors were saying it was all in my head, or they were not listening!
I finally got the courage to tell Dale how I felt like a burden on the family. It took some convincing but he told me I was not a burden at all. Why am I telling you all of this? So let whoever might be feeling the same way I did that everything will be okay. There are so many great Fibromyalgia awareness groups on the internet. In every group that I joined I was warmly welcomed.
Celebrities are adored all over the world. They are popping up all over the world telling their story of chronic pain, Fibromyalgia as well as other painful health problems. Some of our American "royalty," consist of Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (aka Lady Gaga), Morgan Freeman, Kathleen Turner, George Clooney, Jennifer Grey, Mary McDonough, Janeane Garofalo, and Susan Flannery. They are often gushed over but we
often forget that they are human too. They buy groceries, go to baseball games, go to the mall, and even go out with their families. I admit I felt a bond with the celebrities when I found out about their chronic illnesses. We are a part of the same "team." And even though we had never met, we will be there for each other. Go team Fibro! We're warriors! Purple butterflies are survivors!
One of the celebrities that I have been following is Lady Gaga. I applaud the fact she is speaking out about Fibromyalgia Awareness. She has repeatedly been ridiculed by the press. I have seen the pictures, and I can tell she is in so much pain. I want to give her a gentle hug. She is just one of the purple butterflies that are such an inspiration to all of us! I found 13 celebrities who have spoken out about their Fibromyalgia, which is a pretty cool list of other butterflies from www.themighty.com. Gaga has a documentary about her being on tour with chronic pain.
Chronic pain does not affect everyone the same way. Lady Gaga's chronic pain affects her when she becomes depressed. My chronic pain happens no matter what I've done that day. For years I was searching for online Fibromyalgia support groups.
Now there are so many Fibromyalgia awareness groups on the internet to pick from! I have found most of them on Facebook. In every group that I joined, I was immediately welcomed. Reading what my fellow bloggers have posted about their experiences has given me perspective as well as inspiration. I am grateful for having the opportunity to meet new people and share our day. Of course I am grateful for you too my subscribers! I hope that my blogs bring comfort to all of you!!
Till next time purple butterflies!
