Happy New Year fellow purple butterflies!
I'm not sure if any of you are making any plans for the next couple of days. My husband and I celebrate this holiday by relaxing and enjoying each other's company. Our first New Years together, we had every intention of staying up to watch the ball drop. We ended up falling asleep before midnight, was awakened by the sound of the fireworks, said happy new years, and went back to bed. It's been an inside joke with us ever since that night. I put together a small list of snacks and fun things to do for the upcoming holiday for those of you who happen to be alone, if you're with family, friends, or dates.
Fun Snacks :
* Apples and with melted dark chocolate on it: I recently saw this in the grocery store. They sliced a red apple and dipped each piece into melted dark chocolate. It was quite yummy!
* Spinach artichoke dip: I highly recommend Rachael Ray's recipe. I made this several times years ago and it is delicious! Here is the link: Rachael Ray's Stovetop Spinach and Artichoke dip .
* Mozzarella tomato balsamic salad: Buy a large tomato and slice it (or get cherry tomatoes), BelGioioso fresh mozzarella (sliced) and balsamic vinegar dressing.
* Goat cheese with fig spread on crackers: I also tried this recently and it is fantastic! Pick up your choice of goat cheese, fig spread, and I would recommend a thin wafer.
While you're snacking, why not take a trip down memory lane with some very cool tv shows? Check out one of my all-time favorite shows, "Once upon a time". "The premise is about a young woman with a troubled past is drawn to a small town in Maine where fairy tales are to be believed." You can watch "Once Upon A Time," on Disney plus. This show got me through some tough times. I was so sad when it was canceled. I am proud to be apart of generation x, and therefore I remember the original "Magnum P.I.," show that starred Tom Selleck. I recently found it on Amazon Prime along with a few other fun retro shows like, "Family Ties", "The Twilight Zone", and "The Andy Griffith Show.". If you're like me and grew up with these shows, it's a neat flashback moment. If you're not familiar with these shows, prepare for a wholesome good time that you can't find anymore!
If you're with a date, you may want to shut your phone off so you can be alone. It's hard enough to get romantic while being in pain, we certainly don't want our phones ruining it. If you're feeling well enough, try turning off all of the lights, except the Christmas lights or candles, for ambiance. Maybe you're sick of watching the tv? Ask your best friend or date to read a passage from their favorite book to you? If you feel like reading something back to them, fantastic! If not, don't sweat it! They will surely understand! Take turns telling each other why you appreciate them. Make someone guess your resolutions! If you're having a slumber party, take turns painting your friend's nails. Don't forget the facials!
I want to thank everyone who has subscribed to my website as well as continue to follow me on social media. It's all very exhilarating and I can't wait to see what 2020 has in store for me. I hope that no matter what you decide to do, you have a wonderful, safe and happy New Year!
