Dear purple butterflies,
Let me begin by saying that I realize how blessed I am that I found my soulmate. I thank God every day for him. With all the pretty red and pink hearts along with the oversized stuffed teddy bears strategically placed around the grocery stores, it can be hard to escape the fact Valentine's Day is just around the corner. It won't be long before couples are making plans for their romantic evening.
But who says that Cupid's Day has to be just for couples? Long before I was married or even had a boyfriend, I tried my best to entertain myself so I could enjoy the day along with everyone else. Today I would imagine I'd do the same thing. Only I would realize my limitations due to my pain, fibro fogs, or my spasms.
I've come up with some ideas for a St. Valentine, "love yourself day." I'm a huge advocate for Fibromyalgia awareness. This is a day to take care of yourself. All year long you might take care of others and now it's your turn. I'm not always able to, but if you're up for it, get your day started by doing your favorite exercises. I prefer to do this in the morning. It allows me some alone time to plan for the rest of my day. Please ask your doctor before doing any exercises. The main objective is for you to feel good about yourself. After the workout, grab a snack.
I love to eat mandarins because they're a quick snack. Have you been wanting to hit the mall with a friend? There is nothing wrong with treating yourself to some shopping at the nearest mall. You deserve it! Don't fret if you're on a tight budget, locate the nearest Goodwill. I have found some awesome finds at a Goodwill location. Are you an animal lover? Spread the love to a fur baby! Volunteer your local animal shelter for adoption day.
Some of you are thinking okay Rachel, what about staying in instead? Some excellent shows to binge-watch are The Good Doctor (ABC), The Goldbergs (ABC), Fresh off the boat (ABC); The Good Place, Manifest (NBC), Young Sheldon, and Outlander (Starz/Netflix). Certain episodes do have romantic scenes in them. Fair warning, Outlander isn't suitable for kids.
Whatever you choose to do, I hope you will enjoy yourself. Please feel free to leave a comment down below and let me know what you did! I'm looking forward to hearing back from y'all!
Till next time!
