I finally got to see my actual Neurologist this past week y’all! She is one the best in town so it takes months just to see her. Believe me when I say, she is worth the wait! I usually only see her once a year unless something big happens i.e. I fall. I love the fact that she really does care about me and my well-being. When Dale and I thought about getting pregnant, she was one of the doctors who was honest with us and talked to us about all of our options. I won’t go into what we decided in this blog, but let’s just say she made it easy for us to decide. From 2002 – 2011, I have gone through so many doctors it’s not even funny. Once you find the doctor that works for you, you hold onto them with a vice grip.
My appointment went really well. We discussed the necessary things. She was thrilled that I was losing weight. Plus she really liked the fact that I was starting the blog and that I had a website for Fibromyalgia. She believes I have the beginnings of small fiber neuropathy due to my symptoms of Fibromyalgia. Small fiber neuropathy “is a condition characterized by severe pain attacks that typically begin in the feet or hands. As a person ages, the pain attacks can affect other regions. Some people initially experience a more generalized, whole-body pain. The attacks usually consist of pain described as stabbing or burning, or abnormal skin sensations such as tingling or itchiness. In some individuals, the pain is more severe during times of rest or at night. The signs and symptoms of small fiber neuropathy usually begin in adolescence to mid-adulthood.” If you’re interested in learning more about this, click here https://ghr.nlm.nih.gov.
My Neurologist takes the times to talk, understand, and doesn’t push me out the door. I don’t feel as if I’m just another face, another number and one more complaining patient. I hope she never leaves Dallas! When I was leaving her office, I realized how I could’ve given her business cards to pass out. Oh well! I will have them for next time.
How was your week? Did you have any doctor appointments? Do you have a favorite doctor? Feel free to leave comments below! As always, have a great weekend and be well!
